Blindsight: Scientists Seeing without Eyes
and Ramtha's "Henry Sugar" Training

A team of scientists from the Department of Psychology of Rice University in Houston, Texas, discovered the brain's capacity of seeing without the aid of the visual cortex. Jennifer L. Boyer, Stephanie Harrison, and Tony Ro submitted the findings of their breakthrough experimental research to the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America for publication in their proceedings journal in November 2005.

"In humans, the primary visual cortex (V1) is essential for conscious vision. However, even without V1 and in the absence of awareness, some preserved ability to accurately respond to visual inputs has been demonstrated, a phenomenon referred to as blindsight," reported PNAS. Ramtha, in his classic teachings on creating personal reality and the difference between consciousness, mind, and the brain, has always taught his students for decades that it is the brain that sees, not the eyes. Ramtha explains the significance of this phenomenon to a beginning class in 1998:

"The brain is what is seeing, not essentially the eyes. It is how you have programmed the brain that gives you the ability to see."
"This is at once both disturbing and enlightening: Only objects and lanscapes are recognized thru the eyes as our brain is programed to recognize and know them. So I want to ask you a question: How many beings and how many lifeforms exist in the empty space between you and I that you can't see? Oh, the eye is looking right at it. Why can't you see that? Because you don't know it."
"Now you begin to understand why the greatest life we can live is a life in pursuit of knowledge. Notice that I didn't say truth, I said knowledge, because had that ancient culture had the knowledge of the galleons and the Spaniards and the epic coming of them, they would have been prepared for what they were looking at. But as it were, they were unprepared and worshipped them as deities."
"So how many things have gone on in your life that you had a hair-raising experience from but couldn't see? How much about your life do you not know? So the eyes are not a judge of reality; they are a confirmation of it. Your eyes do not determine reality; they simply confirm it."

A news report by Fox News on this discovery quotes a statement by Tony Ro, the mastermind behind the discovery, that supports Ramtha's point that what we see is filtered out by what we know: "These findings demonstrate that while certain brain areas are necessary for awareness, there is extensive processing of information that takes place unconsciously." [link to www.foxnews article]

Ramtha has consistently defended over the years the brain's capacity for sight perception and other forms of extraordinary perception without using the eyes at all. Ramtha has also devised various training techniques for consciously developing the brain's ability for "blindsight." These techniques involve blindfolding the eyes completely, which resembles the scientists' experiment described in the PNAS report:

"We used transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to deactivate V1 [the primary visual cortex], producing transient blindness for visual targets," explained the team of scientists. "Despite unawareness of these targets, performance on forced choice discrimination tasks for orientation (experiment 1) and color (experiment 2) were both significantly above chance. In addition . . . these results suggest a functioning . . . visual pathway that bypasses V1 and can process orientation and color in the absence of conscious awareness," reported PNAS.

Ramtha goes beyond the scientific experiment and explains the mechanism largely responsible for this extraordinary discovery and the possibility of developing and training in this ability as in the fantastic story of Henry Sugar:*

"The midbrain, the psychic brain, is a term overused with prejudice because all understand it is to gifted people with psychic abilities . Well, that is just balderdash because everyone's midbrain is psychic. You couldn't be alive if you didn't have it. The midbrain's duty is to pick up frequency, frequency that has to do with information and destinies, timelines, coming through the light. And so how does it pick it up? It picks up this frequency and it then interprets that in frequency and sends it onto the yellow brain [the neocortex] for further analysis. But it doesn't come in as a picture; it comes in as a signal. All frequencies carry consciousness and intent with it."

"Moreover, if a person hasn't developed this eye, this midbrain, then the way they usually get the information is they don't get it in pictures; they get it in gut feelings."
"You were taught to do it in the sense of sending-and-receiving, remote-viewing, card finding, colors, The Tank®, blindfolded for days. You were all taught to open up that part of your brain so it could see, it knew what was ahead of you. When the senses were shut down, the eyesight was shut down — in some cases the hearing was shut down in this brain — we were actually forcing the yellow brain to depend upon this information. And when it comes down to it that yellow brain will get all that information and will start processing because that is its job."
"Now the midbrain then can be developed to have what is called long sight. What a great tool for the survival of your life, wouldn't you say? So then the more hits that you get — like in Henry Sugar — the more long sight that you get, the more developed it becomes. So be that."

JZ Knight's Visit to UCSB and Donation of Ramtha's Archive of Teachings to the University Library

The presentation and celebration at the University of California, Santa Barbara, last October 13, was a wonderful event and a great step forward for our school and for Ramtha's legacy of teachings to the world.

We met the students from the faculty of Religious Studies who have been studying the history and cultural impact of American religions under Professor Wade Clark Roof. We walked across the massive University campus of nearly 20,000 students with Professor Roof making sure not to disturb the busy flow of an ocean of students rushing on bicycles and skateboards from one end of the campus to the other.

When we reached the classroom and went inside, Professor Roof was very surprised that his class was unusually filled to the max! He had told them he had a surprise for them this day. Word had leaked out that JZ Knight, Ramtha's channel, was coming to talk to the class. Apparently, the office had been busy all week with phone calls and e-mails of ex-students and friends of students asking if they could attend this class also.

We all walked in with James Flick with his usual welcoming smile, Jaime Leal-Anaya, our liaison with the University, and Alicia Lancashire, a student of RSE who happens to work for the University organizing special events and lectures. Professor Roof invited Jaime to introduce JZ and briefly describe the significant contribution of Ramtha's teachings and JZ's life's work for the study of religions.

JZ connected with the students really well, giving them personal insights about her life leading up to meeting Ramtha and what the school is today. Her religious experiences from childhood, her many unanswered questions at bible school, and the contrasting life lived in the cotton fields without racial prejudices illustrated perfectly to the students some of the undertones of American Christian culture.

As soon as the topic of channeling and going through the tunnel came up, the students literally seemed as if they were being sucked into the tunnel themselves. They were particularly interested in what the school is doing now and there were many questions about healing: Is it really possible? The results of the scientific testing done on Ramtha in previous years by experts from the University itself were impressive enough, as was the simplicity of the message, "God is in you and there are no rules in God, only to make known the unknown and experience what we have created with our minds. Life is the gift!"

After the class we walked to the University library to commemorate the donation of a comprehensive archive of Ramtha's teachings for their special collections. They had Ramtha's works on a display table and were playing one of Ramtha's DVDs in the library. The ceremony was warm and simple, attended by the head of faculty, Catherine Albanese, J. Gordon Melton, Professor Roof, and other professors and colleagues, the head librarian and her staff, students and friends. Professor Catherine Albanese commented with excitement that Ramtha's collection offered valuable material for a doctoral dissertation. Gordon Melton, with a hint of tears in his eyes, said, "JZ has given me one of the most vivid experiences in my research career. She welcomed me into her home while I was doing my research." Speaking about Ramtha's special collection of teachings he said that "There is no other collection that compares to this collection. The only one that comes close is Edgar Cayce's collection but in modern times there is no other like it."

It was a thrilling experience speaking to all these professors and graduates and sharing with them from experience what they have learned academically. It is wonderful that Ramtha's wisdom from 35,000 years ago is making its way into our modern halls of learning and is gaining recognition and attention from both students and professors alike. This was clearly the beginning of great things to come already in our future!

Thank you to all who helped bring about this great event,

Love always,
JZ

"In this Plane of Bliss — in heaven, as some would have it to be called — there is no regret at being there."
"I want you to know never was a place more lively and more beautiful than this place, because it is the unimaginable imagined. And never was there such a state of being that utterly was free of the encumbrances of slow time and slow matter. It is the place of rest before the next battle."
"So when we are ready, we come back because we can go no further unless we come back here and take care of this unfinished business, until we understand completely that God is one, and that when we are one — when we decide to be one — is when we have selected the spiritual journey."
— Ramtha
