The Last Waltz of the Victims, Women and Power

Dr. Honourable Renee Webb, J.P., will discuss her own personal journey as a leader, a woman, and the wisdom acquired. She will evaluate the reality of the past, and how it has shaped present day women's inequality. She will offer some potential solutions of how we can help to change the future of the feminine gender.

Dr. The Honourable Renee Webb J.P, was elected to elected to serve three terms in the Bermuda Parliament from November 1993 until December 2007. She served as Shadow Minister of Human affairs which covered Human Rights, Health, and Housing. As a Cabinet Minister for 6 years she was responsible for Telecommunications, Information Technology, E-Government, E-Business, and Tourism.

Academically, Dr. Webb holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Studies, a Master's Degree in International Affairs, Post Graduate in Human Rights Law, and a Honourary PHD in Humanities for her life work. Dr. Webb was educated in Canada at Queen's University, Schiller's International University, and The Sorbonne, in Paris. She also studied at the Kennedy School at Harvard, The Wharton School, and The Institute of Human Rights, France.

Professionally, Dr. Webb has chaired and served on many boards as well as published numerous professional related and human rights articles. She served on the Board of Trustees for Queens University in Canada, the Board of Elan International, The Construction Pension Fund Board, and The Executive Board of the Women Parliamentary Group. She also served on and chaired several cabinet committees while with the Bermuda Government.

Dr. Webb has spoken at conferences and news organizations all around the world on many topics including human rights, business, and tourism. Dr. Webb is passionate about advocating change for the benefit of humanity including gender equality, racial equality, LGBT rights, as well as the rights of women and children. She has made media appearances in Bermuda and internationally including CNN, NBC, and BBC. She created and hosted "World Women in Public Life" Conference for global women leaders in Bermuda. She also hosted an online radio show "Women of the World" on World Puja Interned Radio.

While in her free time, Dr. Webb enjoys golf, tennis, yoga, boating, writing, and reading for relaxation. She published her first book in October 2008, "Journey to My Master Teacher". Dr. Webb is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institute, and the Washington State Chapter of The International Women's Forum. She is also mother to her 20 year old daughter, Tiara, and their magical cat, Lucky.

She has received several awards including:

  • Schiller International University Paris: "Student Most Likely To Succeed"
  • Best of Bermuda Awards: Best Pit Bull Politician, Best Opposition Politician, Best Government Minister
  • Women's Parliamentary Group Service Award
  • Title "Honourary" bestowed by her Royal Highness the Queen Elizabeth 2nd
